About

What is a fanlisting, you may ask? Well, it's exactly what it sounds like: a listing of fans, a web site that fans of a particular subject can join. It's a fun way to see how many fans are out there and what countires they come from.

This particular fanlisting is for the episode of Stargate: Atlantis entitled "Home". It was first opened on August 15, 2005. The name comes mostly from my lack of imagination. It's a refernce to The Wizard of Oz. When Dorothy ends up in the land of Oz, she says to her dog, "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore." It has since become a common phrase to indicate that the speaker is in unfamiliar territory. There comes a point in this episode that each character realizes he (or she) isn't "in Kansas anymore". Terribly clever name, is it not? This long explanation makes it sound better, though.

"Home" is the ninth episode of SGA's first season. Sheppard's team discovers a planet that gives off a strange energy reading. The team explores for some miles around the 'gate, but can find nothing but what appears to be fog. While dialing back to Atlantis, McKay realizes that the 'gate is drawing tremendous amounts of energy--apparently the energy is coming from the surrounding "fog". The team reports back to Weir and she approves a mission to use the energy from the planet to return to earth. The team manages to make contact with the SGC and is told that the Prometheus now has hyperdrive technology, which will allow for travel between galaxies. The team returns to earth and is reunited with friends and family. They're soon told that there's been an accident on the Prometheus and they won't be able to return to the Pegasus Galaxy. Things on earth become increasingly odd and eventually the team begins to think that they aren't on earth at all. It is finally revealed that they're still on the "fog" planet, but that the "fog" is in fact living creatures. These aliens are manipulating the team's minds to make them think that they're on earth. The aliens are doing this to protect themselves; everytime the 'gate is opened, thousands of the aliens are killed. The team agrees never to return to the planet if only the aliens will allow them to leave. The aliens agree and allow the team to return to Atlantis.
